The trading cards and the card game
The card game Star Wars: Unlimited is a different game, from Fantasy Flight Games. Topps' own chrome Star Wars series, and how trading cards differ from a card game, are covered in the guide to entertainment cards.
Star Wars cards from 1977 to 1995
The cards for the first film came in five series during 1977 and 1978. The series are told apart by the border colour – blue with white stars, red, yellow, green and orange – and each series has 66 cards and eleven stickers. The backs in the first series mixed facts about the film with puzzle pieces that together formed the film poster by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. For The Empire Strikes Back, Topps released three series in 1980, with red, blue and yellow borders. Topps Star Wars Widevision from 1995 had widescreen cards, about 12.4 × 7 centimetres, so that a whole film frame fit on each card.
